SYDNEY KAHAN - WOMEN'S SOCCER ASSISTANT COACH

Kahan returned to Assumption in the fall of 2023 following a three year hiatus from the Worcester bases University. 

In 2018, Kahan helped coach the team to their first Northeast-10 Championship appearance since 2014. The team also posted seven shutouts throughout the season, while goalkeeper Alexis Nason earned All-New England Honors and Northeast-10 All-Conference Honors under the direction of Kahan. Nason also had the most saves within the Northeast-10 during the 2018 season and third-best save percentage in the conference.

In her first year with the Hounds, Kahan helped the Greyhounds post an 10-8-2 record with the goalies recording five shutouts, including one versus St. Rose in the NE10 Quarterfinals.

  • Had 13 players earn Academic All-UAA Conference Team honors.
• Assistant Coach at Tufts University (2021-22)
  • Helped coach three players to United Soccer Coaches All-Region Team honors & NESCAC All-Conference Team honors
  • Helped coach one player to both United Soccer Coaches All-American Team honors & Scholar All-American Team honors.
  • Had 23 players earn NESCAC All-Academic Team honors.
• Assistant Coach at Clark University (2018-21)
  • Had the honor of coaching 1 player to an United Soccer Coaches College Player Award of Distinction
  • Helped coach one player to NEWMAC All-Conference honors and All-New England Region honors
  • Had 13 players earn NEWMAC Academic All-Conference honors in 2019
  • Had 15 players earn NEWMAC Academic All-Conference honors in 2018
  • Earned the United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award in both 2018 & 2019
• Volunteer Assistant Coach at Assumption (2017-21)
  • Helped coach the team to the NE10 Semifinals in 2017 and to the NE10 Finals in 2018
  • Helped coach our goalkeeper to lead the NE10 Conference in saves in 2017 and to NE-10 All-Conference honors.
  • Helped coach eight players to NE-10 All-Conference honors, two players to NEWISA All-New England honors, two players to the NE10 All-Rookie Team, two players to Scholar All-Region honors, and one player to United Soccer Coaches All-American honors, CAA All-American honors, NE10 Player of the Year and NEWISA All-New England Team honors.

PLAYING CAREER

• Kahan was a standout at Wesley College  in Dover, Del. where she starred on the women’s soccer team from 2009-2013, and was inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame in 2023.
• She started all four years for the Wolverines in net and holds one of the lowest goals against averages in program history, and was named captain of the team in 2012, her senior year.
• Kahan also played semi-professional soccer for the Rhode Island Reds FC in the WPSL for two seasons.

PERSONAL LIFE

• She currently resides in Cranston, R.I.
• Kahan graduated from Wesley College (DE) and received her bachelor’s of science degree in exercise science in 2014, before earning her master's degree in public adminstration from Clark University in 2022.
