Vision and Goals
Our vision is to create a transformative platform for the youth of Rio Tinto and the surrounding Garifuna communities, providing them with opportunities for growth in soccer, academics, personal development, and professional skills. The academy aims to target young individuals from ages 6 to 18, preparing them for success both on and off the field. Specific outcomes include:
• Soccer Excellence: Develop top-tier soccer talents who can compete at national and international levels.
• Academic Achievement: Provide a strong educational foundation that enables students to pursue higher education or vocational training.
• Personal Development: Cultivate leadership, resilience, and a sense of community responsibility among the youth.
• Professional Preparedness: Offer career guidance and skills development for various professions, ensuring students are well-equipped for the job market.
Understanding Garifuna Social and Economic Struggles
The Garifuna people, being of mixed African, Caribbean, and Indigenous heritage, have historically faced social and economic challenges, including marginalization, limited access to education and healthcare, and threats to their cultural heritage and land rights. Our academy/foundation can serve as a beacon of hope and empowerment, leveraging education and sports as vehicles for social change and community development.

All donations will be sent to an Academy in Diani, Kenay for Ages 4-17 that supports local teams with joint training sessions and participation in local soccer leagues.
Coach D has created a better and safe space for local children to train and enjoy the game of soccer. MAP is excited to support the efforts of this academy by sending gently used equipment to his orgnaization.
